          We are currently seeking a Fraud Investigator to join our team at our Sunrise Operations Center!

We are looking for a talented Fraud Investigator to be responsible for detecting illegal fiscal operations and managing cases of financial misappropriation. The ideal candidate should have demonstrable analytical skills along with a passion for research and investigative evidence analysis.

Responsibilities

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret relevant documents and financial documentation.
  • Common types of fraud relevant to investigations will include check fraud, identity theft, account takeover and other various financial crimes.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and legal professionals to develop strategies useful in resolving fraud cases.
  • Maintain an honest/ethical benchmark when conducting investigations to ensure a non-discriminatory analysis.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and records of all interviews and overall investigative operations.
  • Interview suspects to obtain information useful in illegal financial schemes.
  • Obtain surveillance from within BSCU and other outside sources.
  • Make recommendations on ways to minimize risk of fraud
  • Conduct investigations to determine the identities of fraud perpetrators and the strategies they employed.
  • Analyze financial documents and data to identify inconsistencies in records.
  • Utilize various IT and accounting tools in detecting financial discrepancies.
  • Assist with training of fraud investigation personnel.
  • Assist with the physical security and robbery training.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of trends in financial maneuvers as well as current techniques employed in detecting fraudulent operations.

Maintain knowledge with training:

        • BSA Compliance – every employee is required to uphold the credit union’s compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering policies and procedures. Specific functions with BSCU will take into consideration the awareness of unusual or suspicious activity that is relevant to the department.
        • In addition to any other assigned training courses, online BSA and OFAC courses must be completed at least annually, as made available by the Training and/or Compliance Department.
        • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, Customer Identification Program, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, Fair Lending and Credit Card Act.  

 

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills:

Education and Training: A Bachelor’s degree in business, criminal justice, or in a related field is required. Experience as a private investigator, examiner, or other law enforcement agent is also essential in accessing the job

 

Interpersonal Skills:

    • Must be able to work with investigation team mates, legal counsel and other professionals to achieve an objective
    • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
    • Good organizational skills
    • Display good interviewing and interrogation skills along with the capability of drafting reports
    • Honest and ethical with high levels of integrity and confidentiality.

 Communication Skills: Must be adept at presenting the findings of an investigation using precise language and expression.
